Probus member, Bob Loveys, is scheduled to make a presentation at our June meeting. He will show a video and talk about an extraordinary, little-known story about an attempt by the Japanese to bomb Canada during the Second World War. They fastened explosives to high-altitude weather balloons which they released far out in the Pacific Ocean. The jet stream winds then carried the balloons with their destructive cargo over the Canadian West. Fortunately for Canada, the attempt did not succeed.
