Nestled along the banks of the gentle Grand River, Caledonia is rich in stories of the past. Today, we will explore the historic roots of Haldimand County. Spend time at beautiful Ruthven Park, a National Historic Site that features an 1840s Greek Revival Mansion. Ruthven Park was home to five successive generations of David Thompson I, a veteran of the War of 1812 and a Member of the Legislative Assembly of Upper Canada before Confederation. Enjoy an interpretative tour looking at life on site from the 1840s to the 1990s. Refreshments will also be served. Enjoy a visit to the Caledonia Grand Trunk Train Station where the area's history will come alive with its connection to the Grand River Navigation Company and the formation of the Grand Trunk Railway. The establishment of Caledonia by Ranald McKinnon occurred in 1844 just prior to Confederation.

A delicious lunch is included at St. Paul's Anglican Church, with Ham and Broccoli Quiche OR Turkey Pot Pie as your Entree. Your day in the country will also satisfy your need to shop with a stop at Coach Pyramids. RTA: 5:30 p.m.
Cost $86.00
